Rossi attacks again: MotoGP finale “embarrassing” for the sport

Valentino Rossi has again slated the behaviour of Marc Marquez during the MotoGP finale at Valencia, claiming Marquez helped fellow countryman Jorge Lorenzo to win the title.

As reported earlier, Rossi had already hit out at Marquez and Lorenzo to the Italian press but has since launched another verbal attack.
“I think after Motegi that I have the potential to win the championship, but unfortunately from the race in Phillip Island something changed,” said Rossi.
“In these last three races we saw something that we’ve never seen before in our sport. I think that the situation was already bad, but today was embarrassing for everybody.
“Because it’s unbelievable that the behaviour of Marquez is something very bad, for everything, especially for the sport. It’s something that nobody expected, a Honda rider that makes a win for a Yamaha rider, and gives the maximum just to push out his teammate is something nobody expected, and I think that it’s very, very bad.
“Anyway, it’s like this, we have to accept. I’m happy because now everybody can see what I said in Australia. And I don’t understand the behaviour of Marquez, but seriously, for me it’s very difficult for me to say something to him.
“I hope that he will understand what he did in these last three races in the future of his career.”

“Hondas were faster” than Lorenzo

When asked if he thought Marquez and Pedrosa, who caught up in the closing laps, had the pace to pass Lorenzo, Rossi replied: “Yes, for sure.
“The Hondas were faster. We know that in the second part of the race the Honda had better potential, but Marquez just protects Lorenzo just like he did in Phillip Island and also Sepang.
“At the end I think that also Lorenzo doesn’t have to be very happy, because it’s not the championship he won on the track, but anyway, it’s like this.”
